History
Alderbrook church began in September of 2001 with a vision to be a different kind of church.
From the beginning we wanted to learn how to:
- take down walls and build up relationships
- redefine Church as about People
- reach out and serve others before ourselves
- seek after Jesus...and to follow Him in life
At the beginning of September 2004, we moved into our permanent site, a neighbourhood recreation centre called Centre Ice in Abbotsford, BC. It's good to find a home. We're pretty honest around here about our ups and downs over the last five years--just ask us! But we're optimistic folks who are personally called to participate together in God's purposes.
Keeping the Picture in Mind
We are committed to being a Jesus Centered, intergenerational, intercultural, and multiplying community of faith. Our outlook is outward & optimistic; our practice relational & open; our lifestyle disciplined and service minded; our worship creative and authentic. As with the larger body of Christ down through time, we do not live first for ourselves. We live as a community, intent on seeking God's vision for this place and time—sharing in the common tasks of belonging, believing, becoming and bridging.
Our Purpose
We believe God has given us a mission: to demonstrate to those around us how to personally experience a new kind of relationship with Jesus Christ; and to invite them to participate together with us in God's purposes, as led by the power of the Holy Spirit. In our short-hand version, ACC'ers say, "We are personally called to participate together in God's Purposes."
